Christmas 2014!

The kids had a great Christmas! This year the big gift was the Disney Cruise that we had just taken. Visit this blog post to read about the First day of the cruise.

Tiana was so excited to have a pile of new toys to rip into.

The kids were happy with all of their gifts. Another successful Christmas!

 

Justin buys a family game every year. This year it was called Rampage, and was so much fun! 

Homeschool tour of Home Depot - December 19, 2014

Our wonderful home school group coordinator set up a tour of Home Depot for us. Wow, I was so impressed! They really did a great job! The kids had fun and learned a variety of things! 

They saw a number of machines at work. 

Juli would like a new refrigerator, she really liked all the features of this one. 

They had a kit for each kid to build. 

Almost every employee we passed jumped to help!

The kids final projects. She was pretty good with the hammer! 

We ended our day with a scavenger hunt through out the store. One item on the list was a picture with an employee. Each kid got an apron with a pin showing the build they participated in as well as a goody bag with flash lights! Seriously, I don't know a kid in the world that doesn't love a flash light. 

Our First Tinker Crate! December 8, 2014

Each crate comes with everything needed to create a project as well as a TinkerZine with information and ideas for additional activities to go with the main project. I found the youtube video for putting the kit together very helpful!

Our first Crate was Electricity at Work with all the items needed to create your own motor.

The hardest part for Jayden was getting the coil tight around the disc. Otherwise he was able to do all of it on his own. We still did it together with Juli's help.

They were both so excited when they got the motor working!

Lego Land Center Atlanta, GA - November 19, 2015

LegoLand in Atlanta hosted a homeschool week. While the kids had fun, it is a small area and geared more toward younger children. 

How many bricks do you weigh? 

How do you stack up to the bricks?

The kids loved the spy tunnel! They had to make it all the way through with out triggering a laser beam.

 

 They had fun competing against each other for the highest score. You had to hit the right square when it lit up. They were funny dancing around as they played.

They divided into teams and tried to build a tower to withstand the shaking machine.

Juli had a blast swinging back and forth in the soft play area.

This girl loves to sing! 

I lost count of how many times we rode this thing!

We had the theater to ourselves for the 4D movie.

Another ride that we rode multiple times. This one included laser guns that we used to rack up points with. 

This girl loves money... a little to much!

November 2, 2014 - While the kids were sad to leave the ship, Justin and I were ready! Disney Cruises are just as crazy as a trip to the parks!

November 3, 2014 - Juli enjoying a new book.

He had just asked if we could go back to the ship instead of doing writing! 

 My Box Troll! The kids loved the movie and were happy to pull out their box costumes that they made for the literature fair last year.

November 7, 2014 - The puppy missed her boy! 

November 10, 2014 - back to reality.

Some days, lessons get a little chaotic! 

November 13, 2014 - Dogs are very good listeners during story time! Our dog loves story time and will come running whenever she realizes one of us is about to read out loud.

November 17, 2014 - Science Class with our home school group. They learned about electromagnets.

November 24, 2014 Fernbank Museum of Natural History's special exhibit was on Fear! 

Juli has a Fear of Germs! Okay, really I have the fear of germs and I am working hard to give that fear to her!

November 26, 2014 - Justin got a new car! He works so close to home and when we all travel together we take the van so an electric car was the perfect option for him. He loves his Leaf!
